Lake RotomanuClemow Road, Fitzroy, New Plymouth
Can ride around the lake. Lake can be busy with jet skis and water skiers. Park on the grass in the middle of the carpark on the right as you enter or on the grass pull through beside the sealed carpark on the northern side of the lake Can ride along to the Waiwhakaiho Beach / Fitzroy from the lake during correct hours. |

Weld RoadLower Weld Road, Oakura
Park at the end of the road and ride onto the beach. Ride in any direction. Do not pass the Ahu Ahu Road to the east during daylight saving. Horses can be swum in the river. Watch for occasional quicksand. |
Corbett ParkMain Road, Oakura
Park at the sea-end of the car park. Can ride to the east all the way to Back Beach at a very low tide. Can ride west across the river (not during daylight saving) to Oakura Beach, Ahu Ahu Road Beach. Horses can be swum in the river. |
Bell Block BeachBell Block Beach to North Waiwhakaiho Beach is a fantastic low-tide ride available year-round. Enjoy a short Bell Block Beach ride then look for the dunes track at the western end. From the dunes track above the beach you access the magnificent 2km North Waiwhakaiho Beach. One confident horse needed to lead others over the riverstone slope onto the beach. From there it is a place of beauty.
